Anyway you could add functionally to submit search through a URL? like ffxi.somepage.com/search.php?item_search=helm

i was hoping to be able to make an alias to do quick searchs from my address bar

You can certainly do that; the format is: ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/search.php?search=helm

For mobs, it's: ffxi.somepage.com/mobdb/list.php?search=dragon

With Firefox/Mozilla type browsers, you can easily create those kind of aliases to look up something quickly.
