As mentioned in the
Merchants Guide
, Guild Merchants have their own price range for everything they sell. This is primarily based on how many copies of that item were sold the previous day; the more that are sold, the higher the price goes. Because of this, Guild Merchants can get very expensive for most items. It's still worth it, if they're the only option to get something, but you often end up paying a lot for the ability to buy it there.

It's not based exactly on how many they sold the previous day, it's based on how many they have in stock when the store opens. Guilds get a certain quantity of some items each day, up to a point. Other items they only re-sell if someone sells those items to them, zinc at the GS guild is an example of re-sell only.
Anyway, they get so many of each item in each day, and add that quantity to the amount that was left at closing the previous day, and the price is based on that total. If they reach a certain point, they stop getting more quantities in, and this is where the prices are the cheapest for an item.
