its +5 evasion and not +5 evasion skill which makes a huge difference.

Hmm, last time I checked it was +5 skill to both evasion and parrying.

It still shows up as having +5 Evasion skill in the FFXI data files, making it one of the 11 armor pieces that can provide the effect.
