The current recipe shows that HQ2 and HQ3 are darksteel. However I have desynthed hundreds of these things and I have only recieved a handfull of darksteel. About the same about as gold ingots received from Moblin gear so I think that it is only HQ3 that gives darksteel.

Thanks for the info. I've seen other data along the same lines; the Quadav Backplate recipes are now updated to reflect only the HQ3 as Darksteel.
