Quote from: Cuer Leveling up speculation from 2ch (Japanese BBS) as translated at ffxionline:
from level 75 JP, he uses his 75 killing "too weak" at behemoth, 15 kills and the NPC left. Next day he went to XC and kill 2 more too weak demons, and the NPC dinged to 31. Here's what ppl made out. 1. NPC starts at level 30 shield type 2. NPC will leave when - it's been around for (level x 1.5) minutes - kills 15 mobs 3. NPC doesn't level down when you play low level jobs but only adjust it's status to match you. 4. The EXP it's gain is NOT depend on the player. It's the NPC levels VS the mob's level. 5. NPC gains 70% exp compare to players. For example, NPC level 30 will gain 70 exp from a level 30 mobs (players will gain 100). 6. Sill unsure if they can get chain bonus 7. You will see same level up icons and messege in the log when it levels 8. Can only be cured by PT members, anyone outside PTs can not cure your NPC. Assuming #4 is true, the japanese that level his NPC up kills monsters that were all more than IT to the NPC. So the NPC might gain 200 exp each, 200x17 = 5,800 exp from 30 -> 31. After calling the NPC 3 times, if you meet it at Rendezvous point it will have more styles for you to choose. Tanker Style / Fighter Style / Healer Style NPC at first will randomly use fast blade / burning blade / red lotus / flat blade and you can create skillchain following their WS. There's a player tested out healing type, he was a 31 BST/WHM and here's the spells the NPC used, 12 fights. 2x protectII, 3x shell, 3x stoneskin, 3x aqua, 2x blink, 6/7x silence, 4/4x para, 4x dia, 2/2x slow When the player's HP were around 2/3~1/2 it used 14x cure 3 WS used - 2x burning, 1x red lotus still waiting on more info
