Quote from: Melphina Ok I believe this topic is self explanatory, but I have taken the time to read several reports and parsings of people with the thief's knife and the general consensus is that it gives an additional +1% to drop rate. Note: This IS NOT an additional level of treasure hunter. EXAMPLE: with random numbers pulled outta my rear. Let's say a mob's drop rate of X item is 15% With Treasure Hunter I at lvl 15 thief the drop rate of X item may become 22% With Treasure hunter II at lvl 45 thief the drop rate of X item may become 30% If this is the case then a thief lvl 70 with thief's knife would have a drop rate of 31% on X item And also a thief lvl 75 with both assasin's hands and thief's knife would have a 32% drop rate on X item. ---------------------------------------------------------- There are reports of paarsings by people that haave shown this very result. And to add to this logic, many many items in game give "job ability" +1 stats. It is generally considered that almost all of them add 1% to its effects (IE Store TP +1 == +0.1 tp per swing; store TP + 5 == 0.5 tp per swing; double attack +1 == double attack happens 1% more often with it etc etc). If this is the case then IMHO the thief's knife really is not worth the gil paid on most servers for it. Note: It is not what the item ACTUAllY does that makes it sell in the FFXI community its what people THINK it does. There have been several items that have had rumors started about them and people thought it was true so they paid more for it. EXAMPLE 1: Blau dolch used to be very cheap because nobody knew what proced the latent effect. Once it was actually discovered how it worked and word got out the price skyrocketed. It always did the same thing, but it was the publics perception of it that set the price. Anyways my point is that by the parsings and tests the "Treasure Hunter +1" effect is truly not godly at all. It's a little extra bonus but thats it. If you want to read more on it there are posts that have the actual parsed data in several thief forumns.
