Quote from: Cuer As mentioned above, you want to skill up on mobs that are the appropriate level for the weapon skill. This basically means moving to higher level mobs, as the skill is raised; the recommendations above make that easy, to check what level mob is generally considered appropriate for what skill level. Skillups can go very fast indeed for very low low skills, if you have enough +accuracy to allow you to hit higher level skills. I can usually take a skill from 0-100 in Qufim in about 90 minutes, moving from worms there through the crabs and giants, and on up to the bats just inside Behemoth's Domain. The higher the skill is, the harder it is to get gains on it -- this is true for weapon skills, magic skills, crafting, etc. For weapon skills, skillups to 100 are fast, while getting up to 150 is a bit slower. 150+ is a slower still, although it's generally easy for a higher level character to get in a coffer key hunting group or some similar setup to have a lot of level-appropriate mobs to skill on. Anything above 200 is quite slow... Dynamis is nice for skilling up these to cap, if you go in there regularly. One other note: There was a change in the October patch, so that you must do at least 1 damage on a mob to get a weapon skillup, for melee weapons. So, you do want a weapon with high enough damage to never only do 0 damage; this also makes Crab mobs less useful for skilling up than they used to be.
