I've been hearing for awhile now whispers about extreamly rare and powerful weapons of legend. Weapons such as the:

"Excalibur" (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/3805)
"Apocalypse" (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/3847)
"Ragnarok" (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/3817)
"Gungnir" (http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/3873)

And others. Does ANYONE know the exact requirements to aquire these Legendary weapons? I have heard they have a connection to the "Relic" weapons and the ancient forms of money from the three nations, but other then that, I know nothing more. Any infomation would be appercated.

These Relic upgrades are obtained through a lot of hard work in Dynamis. See the Dynamis overview for more information on them.

Not surprisingly the hidden effects of these weapons aren't listed, but if you go on KI and come across the right people you can learn of them.

One is that the final WSes can chain off light or darkness.
Another is the Excali's random triple damage and damage reduction.

http://ffxi.killvoid.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=74479

That's one from the master RDM Discordian. (Wielder of Excalibur)

The info is hard to find.....but these weapons are more then godlike.

After reading that infomation... I have to say that weapon is beyond godly... Also makes me that much more determined to get it... I might only be 33 RDM now, but I'm gonna start working towards collecting the items not like the currencies and maybe the other items as well... I make a solomn vow right now, I will weild that weapon... That I swear.

I must thank you for showing me this data. It answered several questions I had about it. I think I'm gonna save the 12-13 mil that the Enchanting Sword was going to cost me and put it towards this weapon.

Just to put the cost in perspective, on most servers it currently costs about 500 million gil to upgrade a relic from stage 1 to stage 5, in addition to getting two rare/ex drops from Northlands Dynamises NM's that Dynamis linkshells don't kill under normal circumstances. Most casual players would sooner be able to level 5 jobs to 75 than accumulate enough wealth to finish a relic weapon.

I noticed that after running some figures last night. If the currance alone were to be bought (as in all of it) it would cost 158 million on my server alone...

...but that sounds like fun to me.

Anyway, after going over the data, I'm left with a few questions:

1) When moving from the Dynamis Sword to the Caliburn, after getting the Attestament of Glory, where do you have to go to prefrom this upgrade?

2)Is there a place to convert the lower currencies to the next level (x100 1 Byne Bills to x1 100 Byne Bill)? If so where is it?

3) This one is really just wonderment, but how many people on this Forum have actually progressed through this or any of the "Relic Weapon" quests and if they would want to give any tips or advice on acheveing this nearly impossable goal.

Looking through the legendary weapons and drooling I noticed that many of the added abilities/weaponskills on them dont have any info as to what they do. I realize such info is hard to find, but anyone know where I can find it? thx

There's Goblin Peddlers in Davoi/Oztroja/Beadeaux that will upgrade 100 singles to their 100 equivelent. Each Peddler only upgrades 1 type. Davoi = Bronze/Silverpieces, Oztroja = White/Jadeshells, Beadueax = Byne/100 Byne Bills. Also used for upgraded 100x 100's to the 10,000 piece for the final stage upgrade.

Here's my #1 tip: Save everything until you can upgrade to the 3rd stage. The amount of time to collect this much currency is more than enough time for nerfs/new jobs/change your mind of job/relic/realize you can't afford to even do this.
On my server, Midgard, prices are currently running about 1.5m-2m/100. Total currency required is around 18,000 currency, for a grand total of 270m-360m - plus comparitively cheap other items required of several million. But soooooo many people foolishly do the first upgrade or two and then see the 3rd stage requires about 6100 currency and their plans die on the spot. AFTER wasting all the money; you cannot break a partially upgraded relic back down to it's currency nor give/sell/trade.
So packrat everything and don't upgrade until you're absolutely ready.

First of all, referring to the Excalibur, it will likely cost much more than 158 million to buy all the currency. That page on mysterytour is missing the currency for the final upgrade, which is one Ranperre Goldpiece.

1 R. Goldpiece = 100 M. Silverpieces = 10,000 O. Bronzepieces

So i'm guessing it would cost more than double that amount.

Anyway, to answer your questions:

1) You go to the same place as the first two upgrades: Switchstix just inside Castle Zvahl Baileys. The only time you go to a different place is to retrieve the final version of the weapon.

2) Yes. There are goblin NPCs just inside Davoi, Castle Oztroja, and Beadeaux. The one in Beadeaux converts Bastok currency (Byne Bills), the one in Davoi converts San D'Oria currency (bronzepieces, silverpieces, goldpieces), and the one in Oztroja converts Windurst currency (whiteshells, jadeshells, stripeshells).
Each will convert singles to 100's and 100's to 10,000's (and a 10,000 to a hundred 100's).

::Updates his notes on this weapon::

This is just the infomation that I needed!

As for the job thing, I already know I'm going RDM to 75 reguardless of anything else. The support job is in the air right now. At first, I was thinking NIN, but then I noticed that it was said that any of the En-spells would cancal the additional damage of Excalibur (Which is sweet as heck if I might add), so that kicked NIN right out the window (First plan: Enchanting Sword / Excalibur).

So right now I'm not sure what I want to take to 37 as a support. I'm really wondering if I want more HP to support the Excalibur's effect (WAR, MNK, PAL) or more magic to just "Convert =>Heal =>Nuke" with (BLM , SMN).

As for the cost thing, that is why I'm starting EARLY (as in Level 34 early) By the time I can actually start going after this thing, I should have a decient setup for the first few stages of this weapon. Reguardless what happens, I will have this weapon.

Once again, thank you to all who have responded to this topic. Any other infomation you wish to share will come in handy. ^.^

Get Relic Sword from Dynamis-Windurst.

Trade Relic Sword, Koh-I-Noor, Oricalchum Chain, Cermet Chunk and 4x M. Silverpiece to Switchstix in Castle Zvahl. The next day (after JP midnight), talk to Switchstix to receive Glyptic Sword

Trade Glyptic Sword, Bronze Sword, Mythril Sword, Wing Sword, 14x 100 Byne Bill to Switchstix. The next day, talk to Switchstix to receive Dynamis Sword.

Defeat Hydra Paladin NM in Dynamis-Beaucedine for Attestation of Glory.

Trade Dynamis Sword, Attestation of Glory and 61x L. Jadeshell to Switchstix. The next day, talk to Switchstix to receive Caliburn. [Previous stages are useless weapons; at this stage the weapon has comparable damage and access to their relic weaponskill *in Dynamis only*.]

Defeat Animated Sword in Dynamis-Xarcabard for Holy Fragment. You will need to equip Caliburn and use Knights of the Round to 'keep it's attention' - the Animated Weapons will otherwise leave mid-fight.

Trade Caliburn, Holy Fragment and 1x R. Goldpiece to Switchstix. The next day, talk to Switchstix to receive Excalibur and 3,000 currency back. [Final stage relics allow: additional stats/damage, use of relic weaponskill inside/outside of Dynamis, triple damage strikes and Additional Effects.]

o right now I'm not sure what I want to take to 37 as a support

I'd recommend lvling a sub you'll use in every day playing (experience, missions, etc). In many cases BLM or WHM are the only really accepted subs for RDM (and are very good choices).

Not many experience points parties will accept a RDM with a melee sub, and you'll need to level to 70+ so you can join a Dynamis LS and start raking in the Coins.

There's no reason to start leveling a subjob for use with your relic blade now, because you could level that sub after obtaining the weapon in relatively no time.

Do you know about the exclusive Weapon skills available with the Relic weapons? I'll leave it to you to find out if you don't ;)

I know of a few RDM's in my ls who lvl rdm and some of the other sub choices they sometimes sub NIN. However I have read some will sub DRK at 75 for spamming stun in Dynamis.

RE WS: I've seen the final special WS "Knights of Round", which is a sweet looking and powerful WS.

RE Subs: I guess I just really like being off beat, but I really like ot be ready for something when it comes up, plus as I play with the other classes, I can pick up CPs and other things in addition to preparing for Excalibur. I'm not gonna go into my normal RDM rant cause this isn't the thread to do it on.

RE DRK: I've been hearing about this one ALOT as of late, anyone run this and have an oppion on it? I'd love to hear it.
