HNM Urganite Information

Ok... we tried to (unsuccessfully) kill the HNM Urganite Shen today. Here's the rundown:
1) Farm up and make a
Shrimp Lantern
. The Shrimp Lantern synth is somewhere around goldsmith 80 in cap, a 74+1 Goldsmith critical failed without support but was able to synth it with advanced support on darksday.
2) Go to Bibiki Bay, ride the boat over to Purgonorgo Isle
3) Find the ??? point at the southwest corner of J-9 on Purgnorgo Island
4) Trade the Shrimp Lantern to the ??? and prepare for a tough fight.
The fight consists of:
Shen x1 [Urganite]
Shen, like most other HNMs added this patch, is immune to magic debuffs and Stun. When he goes in his shell, he will use an AoE poison attack called Venom Shell which, at 40 HP a tick, is very nasty. He also gets a very powerful regen every time he pops in his shell, which will fade next time he pops out of his shell. Another special attack he uses is Suctoral Tentacle, which will bind the target if it hits. He also casts magic: Water IV, Waterga III, Flood, Drown. Not as potent as Alastor Antlion, but because of his little buddies, just as deadly (see below). Like all other urganites, when he is in his shell he takes 1/5 the damage he would normally take, but only stays out of his shell for very short periods of time.
Shen's Filtrate x2 [Water Elemental]
Shen's Filtrate can not be debuffed, but they can be stunned. They also cast magic: Water IV, Waterga III, Flood, Drown. The catch? They follow and assist Shen, meaning they'll go after whoever gets Shen hate. The elementals also hit very hard, in the range of 120+, in addition to spamming magic almost nonstop. And if you kill them, he'll just respawn them.
Strategy: Treat this guy like Vrtra. When it's in its shell, it's in the air. When it's out of its shell, it's on the ground. Keep it kited as best you can to prevent the elementals from wiping the party with Waterga III spam. Barwatera and Barpoisra are important, as it drastically cuts water magic damage and allows you to (rarely) resist his poison. Due to the strength of his poison, a couple of stacks of antidote per person is recommended. Not sure if poison/venom pots work to prevent his poison. Main reason we wiped is because we weren't able to lay on the damage fast enough with only 3 BLMs and a handfull of (nerfed) damage dealers, and people kept going down to constant poison status/AoE magic attacks. Otherwise, mages will be too preoccupied casting Poisona to really do much of anything else. Enmity down is also a big factor, as mages will *easily* pull hate with nukes and healing spells off of a kiter.
Rumored drop is
Assault Breastplate

Excellent info, that certainly helped.
Shen
has been updated with info from here and elsewhere, looks like it is the one that drops the Reverend Mail.

Hmmm sounds like a job for melee DDs and RNGs =D
Build TP while in shell unload while out of shell and none of that nasty 'go in shell midcast' that can happen with BLMs.

We won using an all-out damage dealing strategy on Odin. Have everyone in the alliance build up 300% (this includes mages), and when Shen is popped, have everyone deal as much dmg as possible, using 2hrs as a last resort only. This includes nuking (don't use water) and ws. It's a good idea to have a paladin use invincible to prevent Shen from moving around, but everyone, even mages, should remain close by so that people don't miss WS. Shen will summon his filtrates after 45 seconds, so you have that much time to kill him. If you can, then the filtrates won't even get a chance to cast a spell. Our alliance was balanced, even with 3-4 whms. The important thing is for everyone who can cause the most dmg to do so, which includes banish spells and hexa strike from whms. If you can't kill Shen before that time, you'll have a very hard time killing Shen afterwards, as I haven't heard of any LS that has been able to do it after Shen has retreated into his shell and starts regening like crazy (which he won't do until the elementals have been summonned). Good luck on this very quick but intense fight!

Good strategy tips there!
Shen
has been updated with that info. I have seen info on fights where an alliance managed to kill it while kiting NM and it's charmies the entire time, but that sounds like a much superior method of doing it.
