Anyone know of a place that gives an accurate description of what needs to be done to get the Promo maps? The only site I have found is Mystertour and that isnt too helpful.

How to get a promyvion map:
First, go to that promyvion. Kill the "mini-version" of that promyvion's boss. There is exactly one spawn of this on the first floor, and it ranges from lv 30-33. You can easily kill it with 3 or 4 people, and can probably manage with 2 if they are good and the right jobs.

On occasion the mini-version will drop a memosphere item (rare/ex)

There is also a NM version of the mini-version of the boss on floor 3. This one isn't too much harder than the other mini-versions on floor 3; a capable pt of 6 can win. It will always drop 1-4 memospheres.

Finally, you must hunt down a roving ??? that spawns on floor 4. It always spawns in one of the "spawner" structures, so it will be well guarded. I recommend doing this as a thf/nin, as you can blink, flee, and 2hr your way to the spire entrance if you get into trouble. Trade your memosphere to the ??? (I suggest an /item "Blah" <t> macro so that you don't need to fumble around when you find it) and you will receive a map.

I believe on one of the promyvions the ??? actually spawns on the 3rd floor, but I can't confirm that. I've found the ??? on the 4th floor on 2 or 3 occasions, but I've never won the lot on the memosphere ; ;

you can also get memo as normal (albeit uberrare) drops.
(in dem/holla/mea, it probly only drops from the same type as the boss)
dont remember, it was months ago, and we were killing alot of things, as we had stupid people with us that got alot of aggro.

on the top floor, on the "run like hell to the spire gate", the stoped to trade his memo to the mem flux, he said he got the map

i can confirm the drop half, as i came within 40 of getting it, but its his word that he got the map.

we told him to just run, no one was sure if the memo->flux really did give the map, but he wanted it anyway.
and he bitched and moaned that we couldnt comeback out to raise him in the middle of the floor 4 mobs.
and he also moaned that the map sucked. (which makes me think he did get it)

You cannot get the map from memory flux. It was a lie. However you get the map by trading the promyvion specific memospere (e.g. Beryl memosphere for Promyvion-Dem) to the ??? on the 3rd and 4th floors. ??? spawns randomly on the 3rd and 4th floors. Once you get the map, ??? disappears and respawns later in another location.
And for all who wants really to know, there are 2 3rd floors in each promyvion. I'm doing all 3 Promyvion ENMs with my static every week and noticed we were teleported sometimes to the so called 5th floor (some sites call it so).
The big mystery to me are still the memory fluxes. I couldn't figure out what are they used for.
P.S. the maps are very useful if you know how to read them.

All the info shared here is correct, I can confirm it since I myself got a map (Holla).

The way I proceeded; I got my party to the Spire, then came back out with PLD and SMN only. We slowly searched for the '???'. When we found it, PLD used his defensive food and SMN called an avatar(Ramuh). '???'s are all well garded. So Ramuh was sent first and used Thunderspark(AoE) to get as much aggro as possible. Then pld ran in to get the rest. Both SMn trained all the mobs to the zone while I got the map and ran to the zone too. No death happened. in fact, the PLD barely got hurt.

And map aren'T 'THAT' useless. When I do Holla raids for friends, I oftenly use the map. You just need to know how to navigate them.¸

This being said, Memosphere is a indeed VERY rare drops from the mobs ( Wanderers/Weepers just won't drop any. Only Seethers/Carvers/Gorgers/Seekers will drop it... rarelly... )

(also note that the map from Vahzl is gotten the same way...)

Talk about wayyyyyyy too much trouble to go through for maps of possibly the three least frequently visited areas in the game.

I know what mobs drop the memosphere. They are as follows.

Promy Mea-- Craver
Promy Dem--- Gorger
Promy Holla--- Thinker

Also the NM will drop several 100% as well as a recollection in its name (Ie Cerberator drops a recollection of Cerberator). These are very important to get for promy vhazal...details in a moment.
Trade the memosphere to the ??? on floor 3 or 4 and you get the map.

The Recollections of the NM in Promy Mea, Dem, and Holla are used in Promy Vhazal. You trade one to a ??? in lvl 3 4 and 5 (i forget exact details which on which floor) and it pops another NM. Kill it for the following items.

Dia Wand (enhances dia and cure potency effect)
Stone Gorget (enhances stoneskin effect)
Hamayuni (the bow with +10 ranged accuracy and attack vs empty)

Well it's not 100% correct. The Promy NMs drop remrants not recollections. You trade those remrants to a ??? in Vahzl to spawn another NMs. Kill these NMs and you will get a new type of recollections. Trade these recollections to the NPC in Jeuno that makes animas to receive those rare/ex items.

These are now in; I believe the sequence is as follows:

Cerebrator Remnant -- spawns the Deviator, which drops the Recollection of Suffering, which is traded to get the Hamayumi
Coveter Remnant -- spawns the Wailer, which drops the Recollection of Animosity, which is traded to get the Dia Wand
Satiator Remnant -- spawns the Provoker, which drops the Recollection of Anxiety, which is traded to get the Stone Gorget

If anyone has information to the contrary, please let me know; this will all be reflected in the Jeuno quest, once the quest DB is in.
