Possible Toreador Cape hidden effect

This is totally unconfirmed, so take it with a grain of salt. A few of the JPs in my LS were talking about the cape having a hidden effect that increases the number of critical hits you take (in other words a NEGATIVE hidden effect). No idea if it's actually true, but I found it interesting and, given the godliness of this cape compared to Corse Cape, it seemed to make sense. I knew there had to be a catch...

Even if there is an negative hidden effect, a ninja most likley dont get hit (or shouldt get hit) so Ninjas might easiely dodge this :)
I WANT IT =)

Yes I have also heard that this gives the mob an enourmous critical hit rate up percenage. Like 50% of your hits taken will be crits.

Japanese have had these items available to them for the same amount of time... Why would they know for sure?

Because... FFXI is a Japanese game. It's much easier for them to get information on new game additions. You've never noticed this?

There seems to be enough consensus on this hidden effect that it's been added to the
Toreador's Cape
description.
As for information being obtained, the main way it's figured out quickly is by bored high level people with nothing better to do. Given that there are many more level 75 Japanese players who have been there in FFXI for years, more than there are English speaking ones -- it's no surprise that this information does tend to show up on some of the Japanese sites first. Well, that and the data books that Square-Enix publishes over there every few months...

A couple people in my LS have the cape now (they killed the NM the other night when I was asleep) and I can confirm that it does raise the percentage of critical hits you take substantially, although I don't know the exact amount (could very well be 50% like some people are saying). This isn't very hard to test really, at least not compared to more ambiguous hidden effects (treasure hunter, drop rates, etc).
I don't really find this surprising or hard to believe-- I mean really-- look at the stats of the cape.

My LS got two toreador capes a week ago. The two nins that got them have their merit points almost maxed out, including the enemy critical hit rate. On a 2-3 hours exp session they'd only receive 2-3 critical hits.
Right after killing the NM one of them tested it with a few enemies there in Uleguerand Range. He let the enemy attack without utsusemi on and every time he got hit, 75% of them were criticals. He removed the cape and behold, no more critical hits for a long while.
