Monster Pictures?

Adding a small picture of the monster you you are looking at after you have done a scearch. I know this would be take time to do and would be a bit of trouble. I know I liked seeing this on other websites, What are some others people thoughts on seeing monster pictures?

The idea is very good. The time it would represent would be huge. but I hope they eventually find a way to do so...

We may, at some point down the road, put up generic pictures of monster families. I doubt we'll ever have a specific picture for each of the over 3000 mobs in our database; there's just no point.

By and large, we're pretty careful about adding cosmetic changes that could potentially slow the site down. We definitely want to provide as much useful FFXI info as we reasonably can, but not at the expense of site speed. And, as mentioned, this would be a very large expense of time that we'd rather put into providing new useful info that we don't currently have (such as quests and missions.)

So, we're not likely to add pictures for each specific monster, but we may eventually add general monsters pictures for each type of monster.

Somepage is arguably the most comprehensive and diligently updated English FFXI database on the net right now. Pictures of monsters can easily be found at Allakhazam along with alot of slow, outdated information. The most attractive aspects of somepage are its speed and simplicity-- that wouldn't be worth sacrificing for some pixelated screenshots that you can find anywhere else on the net.

How many times do you need to look at a Robber Crab or the Lvl 4 Goblin Thug before you dont need to see a picture to recall it?

I know bringing up an old topic. But being new and still learning like looking back. Yes this would be cool. But as anyone that owns or runs a web site knows that .jpg and .gif mean extra load time. Depending on server and how many pictures per page. May I suggest a photo gallery. Divided into classes and so forth. But then again if on the same server as people access that it will slow the whole server down.

Also as a newbie I would like to make another suggestion.

Adding more areas to the dicussion area.

IE

leveling
crafting
Bastok Quest

and on and on. Being new and trying to find something going thru pages upon pages is rather time consuming. I know there are probably people that have been here since it opened and can give links to almost any question.

Me I Like to have to look as it helps me retain it better when I find it..But there are so many different areas covered in one topic it makes it difficult.

Okay I am done. I love the site though.
